How do you view "inspire"? Your answer to this question can be based on the purposeful leadership model's explanation of it, or just on the idea of "inspire" in general.

I view the word "inspire" as a word that means to grab the attention of others. Through this attention you need to be able to showcase a goal that will make people want to help you achieve it. It needs to be a goal that gets people thinking or motivates people to help you. "Inspire" can mean many different things, but in the perspective of leadership it means to gain the trust of the people around you to follow you and have the motivation to contribute to the goals and visions you have for the future. Inspiring others is an important part of leadership due to the fact that you need the support of those around you in order to accomplish big things.

I never thought of inspire that way! I've always seen inspiration as being motivated to follow in the footsteps of someone or something else. I usually think of the word when it comes to writing stories, but, in regards to leadership, I think a leader would be inspiring when they set a good example for others - they become a goal for others to strive for.

I think it is interesting how you view inspiration. Setting a good example for others I feel is a great way to inspire others. For example, if you are a leader and you do not do any of the work within the group you are leading then no one you are leading will do there work. As a result nothing would get done. I feel that your point is an important part of inspiring others, for others who are following your lead will do as you do not as you say.

I view "inspire" as being one of the hardest qualities of leadership to obtain. I think it takes a lot of charisma and passion for a leader to be able to inspire people who may have had no interest in the topic the leader is advocating for before they met this leader. It also takes a lot of charisma for leaders to instantly connect with the people they wish to lead and inspire, even though they are likely strangers. I think all of these traits are difficult to come by in a single person, so the ability to truly inspire people has always seemed rare for leaders to possess naturally. Due to this, I view "inspire" as being an extremely powerful ability for leaders to possess.

I see inspire as something that is different from motivation. I think that when someone is inspired, they work hard in order to achieve a goal because they want to see change and improve the world in some way. To me, motivation is different. Although the motivation could be for change, it could also be unrelated. For example, an employee might be motivated to work hard only to get a promotion while an inspired employee is focused on the goal rather than other benefits that might result from it.

Inspire definitely has a lot to do with your ability to motivate other people. The ways in which people inspire should be different for all because as leaders we are constantly working with different groups of people with different strengths and weaknesses. Leaders must have the ability to work with those strengths and against those weaknesses to inspire those around them. As Morgan said, being an inspiring leader helps you to gain the trust of those surrounding you. When you can trust the people you work with and you are able to work well together, you are bound to get the best outcomes with whatever your end goal may be.

To inspire is to set an example for other people and to motivate them to take action on a certain matter. Inspiration is key for spreading a movement or a message throughout a society. In order for a cause to succeed, one must be an inspiring leader in the community to influence other people to join that cause. Obviously, there are many modern and historical implications for inspiration. Inspiration was a key force in rounding up all of the colonists during Colonial America. There were many colonists initially who did not want to oppose the king, so the revolutionaries had to be inspiring leaders to show the loyalists that Colonial America could become its own, amazing country, and that the leadership of King George was bad enough as to call for such radical change in society. In the modern era, the suffrage women's rights activists in the early 20th century had to be inspirational leaders to motivate other women to come out in full support of suffrage. In the end, both movements succeeded and created fundamental change in society and around the world.
